Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. This is a great movie visually. But you definitely need to leave your brain at home when you watch it. Giamatti has some really good lines, and he is the only character that has any depth at all. This movie would be pretty good if you could strip out the dialog track and pump up the gunfire. The words just get in the way.

I honestly didn't think I would enjoy this film, but I was hooked from the beginning. One of the best all out action films I've ever seen. Bugs Bunny would be impressed with Owen's versatile use of carrots.

CHEESY LINES, HIGH BODY COUNT and GUNS BATTLES EVERYWHERE MAKE THIS A FILM AN ANGRY FIFTEEN YEAR OLD BOY WOULD LOVE. No need to put much thought into this film but with a twisted Paul Giamatti and dead-pan Clive Owen this film while NOT for everyone is a film that is not seen much in these PC days. Once again this is film to see in between watching thought provoking films. I just enjoyed the blood splatter and the killing-spree. Either you will enjoy it for what it is or completly hate it. If I could compare it to any movie I would say it was a testosterone male version of Charile's Angles (with Drew Barrymore)but instead of hot women you have dead bodies and one hat Ms. Bellucci. Shoot Em Up has the same feel and quick action cuts as Charlies Angels but is much more vile. Fun and sick is the best way to describe this shoot-feast.

Big, dumb, ultra-violent parody of big, dumb, ultra-violent action movies. I realize this movie was intended to poke fun at an already silly film genre in order to make a statement about gun control, with its intentionally bad dialogue and ridiculously over-the-top action sequences, but the problem with this is that intentional crap is still crap. It doesn't matter how much irony or how many respectable actors you fill it with.

wow. I really like over the top action and violence and one-liners. but I normally only like it when it happens by accident and not when it is done on purpose. This is one of the first movies that I've ever seen that tries hard to be corny and it actually succeeds. I guess because all of the actors do a good job and the filming is great. There were a few parts that didn't work as well as others but it was still really good all the way through. The playground scene and the ending were both glorious...you should rent it just to see those scenes.

This action-thriller is almost a spoof, but it isn't. What it is is intentionally ridiculous and over-the-top in a completely enjoyable, tongue-in-cheek fashion, while still maintaining it's viability as an action flick. Clive Owen is perfectly cast as the lead with an obsession for carrots and shooting guns all the darn time. Owen can do comedy, action and drama all in one take. Not for anyone who was never a little boy.

The details for this movie said it was rated R for "pervasive strong bloody violence" so *that* (not to mention the simply perfect title) should tell you all there is to know about this movie. This is the second movie in which Clive Owen is tasked with protecting a pregnant woman and a newly born infant, but he seems to be having way more fun in this one than in "Children of Men". It is all at once a brilliant tongue-in-cheek satire and brilliant example of an action movie. To call the violence in this movie over the top would be a complete understatement since the gunfire is pretty much non-stop. Every scene is choreographed beautifully and has a dazzling momentum that will keep you hitting the rewind button so as not to miss anything. Oh yeah, there's also a thin, implausible plot and lots of groan-inducing one-liners, but if you like action films even a little bit then you will like this movie.

This is the movie that Smokin' Aces wanted to be.
Like a bizarre counterpart to last years Children of Men, Clive Owen again finds himself shepherding a child through one gunfight after another. Each more outrageous and exciting than the last. Paul Giamatti and Monica Belluchi are excellent as bad guy and Hooker with the Heart of Gold.
This was pure adrenaline along the lines of the film "Crank".
