Summary of Sherlock Holmes and the Spider Woman
A slew of wealthy gamblers are found dead in their beds, with windows and doors locked and no sign of foul play. Intrepid detective Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone) and his trusty assistant Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce) are called in to investigate the apparent rash of "pajama suicides," but when Holmes meets the enigmatic Adria Spedding (Gale Sondergaard), he suspects this so-called "Spider Woman" of being somehow responsible. After a round of verbal sparring with the clever Miss Spedding, Holmes fakes his own death in order to work "underground" on the investigation. But has the super sleuth finally met his intellectual match? This cat-and-mouse mystery is based on a story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
