"Schizopolis" never had a chance to reach the masses. Even the "free-thinkers" of the world would have a rough time digesting the circus on the screen.
That said, this is one of the funniest, most entertaining films I've ever had the pleasure of viewing. Soderbergh speaks my language. The films uses a bevy of bizarre comedic devices, everything from wordplay, to irregular juxtaposition, to visual puns: this film is a lot of fun. Soderbergh's dizzying pace and originality kept me transfixed even when I wasn't quite sure what I was looking at.
Note: This DVD also contains a hilarious director commentary of Soderbergh interviewing himself.

I loved this very special and original movie. It's a movie that Steven Soderbergh wrote, directed, produced and starred in and it's one the funniest movies I have seen. The plot is confusing, or as some would say, there isn’t really any plot, but the scenes are clever and it criticizes modern relations - alienation in modern life. The movie also mocks new-age cults such as scientology. It's an avant-garde film full of brilliant ideas: you are constantly surprised and amazed by Soderbergh's creativity, and after seeing this movie I'm convinced of his genius. It's a shame he didn't do anything as comic and offbeat since.
