Profile of Safety Patrol
Safety Patrol can be described as humorous. The plot revolves around hardcase students, a dedicated educator, and teachers and students. Its comic aspect comes from slapstick humor. Safety Patrol's main genres are comedy and family. In approach, it is not serious and realistic. It is set, at least in part, at a school. Safety Patrol is located in Holland. It takes place in the 1990s. It is well suited for a family outing.
Summary of Safety Patrol
Scout Bozell (Hall) idolizes the uniformed Safety Patrol kids who keep watch at his junior high school, and he dreams of being one of them, even though his constant, catastrophic clumsiness makes him something very much like an adolescent Inspector Clouseau. When he transfers to a new school, Scout tries to cozy up to the Safeties there, unaware that this bunch is a mini-criminal gang who shake down other students and conspire a series of employee thefts with the help of two adult crooks on staff. The outlandish Disney TV-movie is filled with wide-eyed caricatures and cameos from everyone from Weird Al Yankovic to Ed McMahon to John "America's Most Wanted" Walsh. But the performer featured most proudly on the video box--Leslie Nielsen--only has two scenes. For another all-ages comedy about a young police groupie, subpeona COP AND A HALF.
