Basically, what makes it so nice
is the Roberts-Gere combination. where another pair of actors might have failed, they make a sweet little romantic comedy, that's enjoyable even if you're not the biggest fan of the genre.

A great pairing of actors
This movie, about a who woman who keeps leaving men at the alter and the reporter who covers it, is a bit silly. Regardless, Julia Roberts and Richard are meant to act together, they share a on screen chemistry that is remarkable.
