This movie's poor dubbing spoils an otherwise interesting flic. I wish I'd watched this in its native tongue & used the subtitles. Probably would have given it a higher rating then. The music sound track is quite good though.

Franka Potente gave a great performance as Lola. It is easy to say that she was fantastic, because it is a role that requires a great deal of physical acting and we didn't get to know a lot about Lola, hence the film wasn't overly-focusing on her...

Franka Potente gave a great performance as Lola. It is easy to say that she was fantastic, because it is a role that requires a great deal of physical acting and we didn't get to know a lot about Lola, hence the film wasn't overly-focusing on her issues, rather her boyfriend's problem. Also a real standout performance came from Moritz Bleibtreii. He actually took on a quite challenging role and pulls it off successfully. He achieves his objective of getting the audience to feel sympathy for the position that he is in. Run Lola Run is without a doubt, one of the best films ever made. A profound, exciting, new age masterpiece and is on my (Top 10 List) 5.0 STARS

Run Lola Run/Lola rennt (1998) is fast paced German action film occurring almost in real time and one of the first independent films I ever watched. The DVD has an English track but I recommend listening to the original German to get the best experience (it has English subtitles).
Lola (Franka Potente) must help her boyfriend Manni (Moritz Bleibtreu) get 100,000 Deutsche Marks that he lost on the subway and that belongs to a crime leader he is working for. Earlier that day her scooter was stolen and she must run everywhere. She only has 20 minutes to come up with the cash or Manni will surely be killed. She can be seen running all over town with her flaming red hair flapping about.
Her best hope is her father who works at the Deutsche Transfer Bank. After her father declines to give her the cash, and as she is running to Manni, he starts to rob a supermarket because Lola is late. Will she stop him in time and have the cash from another source? Maybe if she didn't wear the heavy Dr. Martins she could run faster! Don't you wish you could just start over sometimes in your life to do things right?
The film is filled with heart pumping music as she is running and has excellent creative cinematography. It has a couple little animated scenes and is intertwined with other stories giving a rich and multi-faceted story.
It is a short film at about an hour and 15 minutes long. I suggest everyone see this movie; once you do let me know what you thought in the comments section below. This is one of those movies you can watch again and again. It is a unique film with no other film coming close to what Run Lola Run captured.

After hearing so many people talk about this movie and give it good reviews, I was expecting alot more. This movie was probably very innovative at the time, but now there are many other movies that are innovative and also good movies. I found the characters just didn't engage me or draw me in. I'm not sure if it's bad writing or bad acting. If this is a must see, then put it low on your list. Watch one of the other recommended movies first like Memento and Pi.

Like a firework that never stops exploding
I'm not much into foreign films, but this movie came highly recommended and after seeing it, I understand why. Lola, played by Franka Potente (Bourne's girlfriend in the Bourne series) has to deal with a very unfortunate situation her boyfriend has gotten into that could get him killed. We follow Lola running around town trying to save the day, buoyed by a wickedly energetic soundtrack. Just when you think you've got the story pieced together, the movie throws you a curve ball. Hang on, because this is going to be a wild ride. One of the best explorations of alternate realities I've seen in a movie. Bravo! This is in my top 5 movies of all time.

So for those who have not watched the film three words: the movie rocks!!!
The film is a great combination of techno music (done mainly by the director) and colorful images going to the beat. If you know the city of Berlin, you will realize that it is impossible to cover those distances in such a short time running, but that is only a minor detail...and the city adds to the great looks of the movie.
For those of you that do not like fast editing or techno music, you could pass on this and try Twyker's other films (all of them much more slower paced than "Lola"), specially "Heaven"... but I think none of them has the quality of one of the best german movies in recent years: "Lola rennt"

You know what's good? When a movie with low budget or no budget has such a passionate cast and crew that you couldn't tell the difference. Run Lola Run is about a girl trying to get a load of money to her boyfriend before he has to deliver it to his boss. If she doesn't get there in time, he will be killed. The movie concerns fate, and how one little action can change everything else. It's one that is much deeper than what you see on the surface, and it definitely deserves repeat watchings to take it all in, and see what you missed the first time. It is different than anything I've seen, very cool and energetic, futuristic almost. Run Lola Run will make you happy that there are still a few remaining creative directors left. Watch the Special Feature "10 Years Running" on the Blu-ray edition, to fully understand the artistic choices in the movie. Loved it!
