Rendition had all the markings of a good movie, and thats why I actually watched it, however, far from it. Far, far from it.
A good cast who fail to really get into their characters.
A slow presentation.

Slow tedious avoid.
Rendition had all the markings of a good movie, and thats why I actually watched it, however, far from it. Far, far from it.
A good cast who fail to really get into their characters.
A slow presentation.
Too many long scenes without translation.
A complete lack of logical integration of subplots... exacerbated by the long scenes lacking any English.
And that completely avoids the political implications of the film. It hints of propaganda with an almost completely one-sided presentation of the suspension of the constitutional rights of Americans--presenting both sides in proportion could have made the movie much more tense.
Poorly played. No thank you Jinni.

Hard to watch someone get tortured for the wrong reasons. This film shows how people can be misjudged due to their nationality. It also attempts to scold the American government for taking national security too far in the wrong direction....

Hard to watch someone get tortured for the wrong reasons. This film shows how people can be misjudged due to their nationality. It also attempts to scold the American government for taking national security too far in the wrong direction. Nonetheless, it is an important film to watch, and Meryl Streep is even meaner than in her Devil Wears Prada role. Just know that it is not a happy film in any way, you just want to reach through the screen and choke the characters you are watching.

Disappointingly one-note and a bit boring. Once the premise is set up (the governement can take anyone prisoner if they want to, because of the Patriot Act) not much else happens. Everyone stands around and frowns and wrings their hands; no solution...

Everyone stands around and frowns and wrings their hands; no solution to the larger problem is offered, and no root cause is pointed to. It gets three stars because I am in love with Reese Witherspoon.
