Remember Me, 2010

I copied my review from my blog removing spoilers http://movienarratives.wordpress.com I was quite surprised when I was watching this movie, expecting all clichés would come but then I saw the drama was improving as the story developed. This is a good story. It’s touching, with feet on the ground: tragedies are explored. The story begins with the murder of a mother in front of her 11 years-old daughter, Ally. We expect Ally to grow sad and disturbed, that she will later meet the killer, but that’s not the case. 11 years later we know she was raised by her father, a cop. She’s happy, strong, she copes with life better than her father, who becomes worried about her easily. We also meet Tyler, same age and class, and with another tragedy in family: his brother committed suicide 5,5 years ago (half of 11) , and Tyler blames his father, who is a rich, workaholic and cold lawyer. Tyler has a 11 years-old sister, who is smart, distracted and suffers bullying at school. Tyler and Ally get to know each other better than destiny because the facts converged to that in a not-obvious structure. The best thing in the movie is the emphasis on characters feelings, which are exposed in time and silence (there is little music as well). And here is the point that makes a story good despite actors performances mistakes or unnecessary speeches (I do think those questions answered with ‘I don’t know’ were useless), because I don’t think the feelings were exaggerated, I think this drama was right at this point.
