Red, 2008

RED. An excellent revenge movie that I liked very much and found it to be very interesting. Brian Cox is great, he never comes across as a victim even though he is victimized terribly. Also starring in this movie is Kim Dickens, (Starred in Deadwood along with Brian Cox) Kim is excellent as the reporter who wants to get the story out about the injustice of Brian Cox's impossible situation. This is a 5 STAR MOVIE in my humble opinion.

I like revenge flicks in general. I find something very satisfying in seeing pissant thugs get a disproportionate amount of payback for their wrongness. Ideally a hideously lingering death is preferable, with them screaming apologies the entire time. This movie wasnt that. It actually had heart and, yes, it painted everything in black and white. And it had the stereotypical rich guy that owns everyone in town. But there wasnt a blood drenched ex-navy SEAL/Army Ranger with a purple heart going through and taking out all the bad guys with a toothbrush and 3 AAA batteries. The story was actually more enjoyable and believable for that lack.
