Oddly disappointing--for me, this film added up to far less than the sum of its parts. I love spaghetti Westerns, Charles Bronson and Alain Delon, yet this film bored me to tears and I couldn't imagine rewatching it. One of the big problems was that Charles Bronson's character was very un-Bronsonian--rather than the classic strong, silent type, this character talks too much and is even a bit of a comic to Mifune's straight man. That alone made the film upsetting and hard to watch. On top of that, I think this film should've been at least 30 minutes shorter. There were a lot of unnecessary scenes that really bogged the movie down and bored me. One bright spot was Delon's performance--quite good. However, this film was boring and I can in no way recommend it to fans of the genre.
