Summary of Rebel in Town
Suspenseful drama set in the West has Naish and his four sons as Confederate soldiers making a break for it shortly after the Civil War. When they stop to get water from a well, a young boy with a toy pistol points it at one of the sons, who shoots and kills the child. The boy's parents, Payne and Roman, seek revenge for the slaying of their son and work up the town against the Confederate family. This leads to several violent interludes before peace is finally made. A finely scripted, produced, and acted film in which the level of tension and frustration at the hopeless situation continually mounts to a climactic solution.
