Dear readers,
Never been big on the whole james bond franchise... but after seeing casino royale I was very much looking forward to watching this one. Unfortunately it wasn't as crazy! James bond seemed to be driving everything in this one, cycles, cars, boats, planes... I guess if your into that stuff then this movie would be for you. Overall, pretty good film. I still thought Royale was better.!

I fell asleep on a Bond movie. Need I say more??? Despite a fine cast, I couldn't care less about this movie. Where was the plot? It was more like an action-packed travelogue, but not a good one. Move over, Bond; bring on Bourne!!!

Okay, I'm not what anyone would call a James Bond "fan." However, I have enjoyed many of the movies, especially from Pierce Brosnan. I did even manage to enjoy Casino Royale(Even if there was no Q character.) But, for lack of a better term, this movie blew big time. The story was convoluted and uninteresting. The acting seemed well below Mr. Craig's standards and to this day( I saw this in theaters) I still don't know what the hell "the Quantum of Solace" was. Overall I just have to give this a big fat F!

As just another action flick out there, this is an OK product. But as the latest entry in the glamorous, enjoyeable Bond franchise, it is very dissapointing. Losing all off Bond's familiar shticks and symbols was OK for the restart in Casino Royale, but now it's missing. The movie is too fast, rough, editing is too jumpy, you don't even notice who punches who. Jokes are missing, Sex and sex appeal are poor of both Bond and the women, and the plot and villian - way poor. The whole connection to the former movie is forcefull and not interesting. And the issue of stopping bond by his own agency - give it a break for a while, come on.
Bottom line - series and character need once again a restart.

It does have a few moments, but a little more character development along with a less fantastic plot could go a long way in counter-balancing the chains of the Bond-flick formula.

The sentiment that this is a poor man's Bourne movie is pretty accurate. While the action of this Bond flick is generally pretty excellent, the rest of the movie is pretty ho-hum. The story is so absolutely moronic that it defies belief, the bad guy is doing what? I won't spoil it but it's bad, and they never take the time to even fully explain what the point of it is. Then, there's no standout thugs like Bond movies should have... and there's no fun in it. Bond movies used to have a bit of fun, but this one lacks any of it. Then we get to the final climax at the explosive building they're hiding in - and it was not all that exciting. Great action without credible story or any of the great Bond history moments.

Daniel + Olga = A Modern Bond
I like this a lot more than Casino Royale... Daniel Craig was just getting his footing in that film, and Quantum of Solace is a huge leap forward for the endless series. In the first eighth of this film, I was seriously getting dizzy, the camerawork is so jumpy at the start, way worse than any Bourne film. I literally couldn't tell who was getting their face cracked, and for that matter, what was happening at all. Thankfully, the camera eases up, and you get some time to cool down as the film progresses. There are well-timed action scenes peppered throughout, and the dialogue is limited enough to bode well for the film. Once the opening theme kicks in, you know you're in for a modern Bond movie - finally - and you get it. I can't think of much that would improve this film, other than having a more understandable threat... you can't just blow throw a list of suspects James Bond has to chase, and expect me to hear everything being said, especially if M is doing the talking. Still, best modern Bond movie yet, with Daniel Craig and Olga Kurylenko kicking all of the butt required, this time around.

Quantum of Solace
Being that this is a direct sequel that picks up right where "Casino Royal" leaves off, the plot is somewhat confusing if you haven't seen, or are a bit fuzzy on the plot of Casino. This is a pretty weak bond film. There are no real stakes. At no point did I feel that Bond was actually "going rouge". There is just very little on the line for Bond creating no dramatic tension. Not only does the drama fall flat, but the action doesn't do much to induce much thrill either. The entire film is cookie-cutter action with fast editing, over choreographed chase and fight scenes and terrible dialog thrown in between. In the first of the Daniel Craig Bond films, a new gritty tone was introduced, leaving the door wide open for this film to expand upon that and take the franchise to a new level. Unfortunately there is nothing new here. Quantum felt more like an expansion pack to Casino rather than a sequel.
