Profile of Psycho

The mood of Psycho is bleak, scary, and suspenseful. The plot centers around a character with a split personality, a slasher, and a woman in danger. It is a thriller and horror movie. Stylistically, Psycho involves twists and turns. In approach, it is serious and realistic. It takes place, at least partly, in a hotel. Psycho is set in Arizona. It happens in the 1990s. The musical score is electronica, country, and orchestral. Psycho is a remake and based on a book. Note that it includes brief nudity and violent content.

Summary of Psycho

Hoping for a fresh start with her broke boyfriend, Marion (Anne Heche) steals a huge sum from her boss and skips town, eventually stopping at a remote motel. There, she's served by the intensely awkward yet docile Norman Bates (Vince Vaughn), whom she often hears arguing with his domineering mother. But later that night, Marion is brutally slain, and Norman finds and hides the body. When a detective and Marion's sister visit the motel to investigate, they uncover shocking truths.

Variety

A faithful-unto-slavish remake of the 1960 Hitchcock classic, pic contains nothing to outrage or offend partisans of the original, yet neither does it stand to add much to their appreciation. Full Review

I guess a shot-for-shot remake IS a dumb idea. But there were two things that sunk this movie more than anything for me. First is Vince Vaughn's performance. Tony Perkins played Norman Bates as a jumpy awkward nerd, but still as kind of a likable... Read and rate it

I have to start off saying, Psycho was a film I discovered in 9th grade. It was my 1st real Hitchcock film that I really, really liked. I even liked the follow up, Psycho II. So, I have avoided this "shot for shot" version until recent. I dreaded... Read and rate it
