its a shame
i rather like kevin james and thought this film would of been an good comedy film but i was really let down...the plot to the lines used and silly scenes put in made me wonder why i put myself through watching it to the end...it got very boring and...

i rather like kevin james and thought this film would of been an good comedy film but i was really let down...the plot to the lines used and silly scenes put in made me wonder why i put myself through watching it to the end...it got very boring and kind of cheesy in the way they tried to make it soo funny it turned out to be just torture for me anyways...

I was very disappointed. Ever since this film came out in theaters, I had been hesitant to watch it. I thought that with my nine-year-old nephew, I'd find it quite the charming, feel-good movie. It was incredibly boring. I was more irritated than amused, and it weighed too heavily on his physical unfitness. Even my nephew had a bored expression on his face. We turned it off and watched The Neverending Story.

This movie is awful. Two stars is generous. I gave it one star for the two times I laughed during the entire movie. And another star for getting to look at Jayma Mays for 90 minutes.

To sit down and watch this film from start to finish would be like slowly feeding yourself through a meat grinder. This low brow comedy had potential if only from one individual...it's leading star. Otherwise, Mall Cop was doomed from inception from inept directing to atrocious writing. Where this film could have been funny it was dreadful to even swallow. You have Steve Carr, who's only decent directorial effort was 2000's "Next Friday" and just because Kevin James wrote for
"The King of Queens" doesn't mean weekly episodic formulas would work on the big screen. Suffice it to say, while all over, this mangled 1 1/2 hour snore is quite horrendous, there is one positive thing I said aloud about Mall Cop...."my god I've reached the credits!"

Being familiar with movies where the trailer was better than the actual movie, I was a little concerned that this would wind up being the same kind of deal but I was amazed that it really wasn't! Paul Blart: Mall Cop is just another silly movie with a silly plot and silly characters but is played out well with a couple twists along the way. Being not just any ordinary 'security guard', who takes a lot of crap from everyone but takes pride in what he does and who has a big heart, is taken on a wild ride when a bunch of hooligans take over with the intent of robbing the mall of all its money. Paul, played by the hilarious Kevin James, decides it is his duty to circumvent and outsmart the criminals. As I said, this is a very ridiculous film and yet it was still quite enjoyable. I recommend it to all who need a good laugh! 3.5 stars. 1/18/09
