This remake doesnt have much going for it if youve seen the original. Even the scenes that were re-shot from the first Nightmare were done better/bloodier in 1984. They tried to get a little more into Freddys background, but it didnt add as much depth to the film as any of the things from the original storyline that were removed for this remake.

Like others If I could give a zero I would. Terrible Freddy with absolutely no personality. The first half of the movie is 3 deaths and no story line. Just take your time and watch the originals, they had the horror genre down pat!

Singular performance
Haven't seen the original, so I cannot comment on the comparison. What made this movie better than a 3/10 for me was the Freddie portrayal by Jackie Haley.

1/10 BAD. So bad. Not even the pretty CGI could save it. Nor Katie Cassidy. No connections to any of the main cast made me indifferent to their deaths. And the two left standing were so irritating and unpleasant to look at that I found myself...

1/10 BAD. So bad. Not even the pretty CGI could save it. Nor Katie Cassidy. No connections to any of the main cast made me indifferent to their deaths. And the two left standing were so irritating and unpleasant to look at that I found myself wishing death on them in the most grotesque way. Not even Jackie Earle Haley could redeem this movie, and I had been looking forward to his portrayal of Freddy. He just seemed like Rorschach, same voice, different costume. I will never watch this movie again.

I’m sorry, but this is a poor try. This film is not even close to the original. Remakes being remakes, are almost always not as good as the original. Bet there’s a remake that’s not as good as the original, and there are remakes that are just bad filmmaking.
I have nothing good to say about it. The film fails to construct the suspense and tension that are so important in this genre. The characters suffer from of lack-of-everything – I didn’t care about them for one bit. Waste of time.

Mixed feelings here...I love horror films and look at the orginal as a horror classic. I dont hate the remake and it kept my interest. Many here like myself will enjoy it since they did not completly ruin the franchise. With that said, the orginal is truly the better movie. This version of Freddy is a disfigured and burnt mess. You will see more of the backstory behind what make Freddy the terror he is but since this is geared towards a new audience alot of what we know about Freddy is spoon fed to us which makes no sense since we everything we need to know about Freddy is already out there The young cast actuall does a great job of keeping this story believable.
