Did I see some kind of bootlegged copy? Is the moon made of cheese? Otherwise, how did this C foreign film become such a sensation?

I'm surprised and in shock. I had seen Wanted, which shares the same director as this film, and while I enjoyed it I was not blown away or dazzled by it. Going into seeing this I had so-so expectations. It blew me away. Excellent effects, great and original plot, beautifully directed so that it goes between Matrix-style action to hand-held camera style thrills. Visually stunning and fast-paced. The dubbing took time getting used to, perhaps better watched with subtitles. Check this out, it does not disappoint.

10/10Must See
I had to give it the Five Star treatment. Very much like the Matrix and Blade yet original in it's execution. The story was not as confusing as I read it was and the subtitles were not a problem at all. As a matter of fact I have not seen subtitles used and abused the way they were. A great ending and I wanted to pick flaws from this film but could not find any worth mentioning. You like vampires films with an insane edge to it then see this. I'm looking forward to the next film called Daywatch. Let's hope more films like these are made and get alot of publicity in the process.

I'll be brief. Visually this is a pretty cool film especially considering its smallish budget. Story wise it seemed a bit muddled. Not horrible just not gripping or overly involving. Something about vampires. I recommend the dubbed version, it's not perfect but it frees you up to enjoy the visuals.
Fans of film will find much to like and discuss, casual viewers...not so much.

8/10Great
Take Highlander, Blade Runner, star wars, Blade, underworld, Buffy the vampire slayer, interview with the vampire, the Matrix (and maybe a few others); toss 'em in a blender; add in Hollywood-calibre CGI effects, some dark Russian philosophy, folklore and humor, and a nontrivial dash of inventiveness, and you have "Night Watch."
It does use a lot of cliches, but manages to twist and adapt them so it's not tiresome; and the visuals are stunning enough to keep you engaged.
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this. Definitely worth a watch!
