Just thinking about what it'd be like to not only see into the future but effect it also, makes this a real brain warper. Its not all psychic though, the film's action scenes are pretty intense too.

An absolutely abysmal movie. The concept for the film sounds great but the execution is terrible. The Film also suffers from a terrible ending that ruins any of the parts of the film that could have been good.

What a crock. to think that nick cage has come from Raising Arizona to this.. What happened dude? the writing was just terrible, there was zero setup and he is in bed with the chick within an hour of meeting her. Why would she get in a car and drive...

What a crock. to think that nick cage has come from Raising Arizona to this.. What happened dude? the writing was just terrible, there was zero setup and he is in bed with the chick within an hour of meeting her. Why would she get in a car and drive cross country with this random guy who walked into the path of her abusive boyfriend? The writers probably think that french terrorists are a refreshing choice for bad guys, but nope its just stupid. it becomes clear pretty early on that theres no possibility anything bad will bappen to our hero because he sees everything coming. Also Jullian Moore is relegated to a one dimensional uberbitch fbi agent.. And the limp suprise ending (it was all a dream) is super lame. Save 96 minutes of your life or watch High School Musical instead.

Deeply stupid. Bad acting, bad dialog, surprisingly bad FX (sloppy greenscreen backgrounds when characters are driving? Seriously?). This movie makes no sense and doesnt care. Cages character has a power to see the future which is sometimes restricted to just his own future, and sometimes more flexible, whenever the story requires it. Theres some sort of connection with Biels character which is never explained or explored.
Worse, the major suspense event of the movie--a nuclear bomb in L.A. somewhere--is basically dropped. Instead, we get a much cheaper and less interesting threat: Biels character is kidnapped and might get blown up.
And worst, the ending is a lazy variation of it was all just a dream. I hadnt thought such a thing was even possible, but there you are.

I really wish there was a "OK" rating because I neither liked or disliked it, it just exists. I found this movie to be entertaining, however it really lacked in developing characters, story, plot and payoff. This isn't to say it's a bad flick, but...

I really wish there was a "OK" rating because I neither liked or disliked it, it just exists. I found this movie to be entertaining, however it really lacked in developing characters, story, plot and payoff. This isn't to say it's a bad flick, but it's not one gives you satisfaction. It never delves into motives of anyone or reasons for anything, just throws you into a premise (supposedly after a Philip K Dick novel - not) and then at the end bonks you on the head and says "nope".

Almost four stars due to the ending of the film. While not as good as Deja Vu, this thriller is worth the rent and at a little over an hour and half will not eat up much of your time while still entertaining you. Nic Cage is the best odd-ball actor out there and this film just cements that view of him. I'm not saying that this is an amazing film but it was fun and I was consumed by the storyline. What else can you ask for? With so much garbage out there it's nice to see a time traveling movie that is not a waste of time. Go rent this and enjoy.

Why do people always slam Nic Cage films? Really, this isn't bad. I rather enjoyed it. It's not supposed to be the Godfather. It's premise is tricky, and I thought they pulled it off rather well. There is one moment, toward the end, when Cage's character seems to have developed a power he previously did not have. But I got over it. And instead of finding the ending a cop-out, or super bad, or contrived, I found it to be one of the few true 'twist endings' to happen in recent years. Sure, they don't let the big explosion actually happen--which would have been a truly shocking ending--but the ending that exists suffices for shock and unexpectedness. There's nothing wrong with 'Next'. Cage has gotten a bad rep as of late and I fear folks are watching his movies with a bit of a bias...

I don't realt like Nicolas Cage but this time he surprised me. The movie could've been better, but that way it's fine to. Cage performs a man who has the ability to see 2 minutes into the future. Julianne Moore is a special agent who heard about him and wants him to help her stop a killer. He just wants to be left alone and she will do anything to force him to help her. As the movie develops we learn a bit more about his power and what can he actually do with it. It's exciting, suspenseful and stylish. I enjoy it also the second time I watch it.
