Summary of Na-neun Heang-bok-hab-ni-da
Directed by Yoon Jong Chan (Blue Swallow), the wryly titled I Am Happy searches for hope and happiness amid depression and dementia. Popular actor Hyun Bin (A Millionaire’s First Love) and Lee Bo Young, who last made audiences cry in More Than Blue, play two wounded souls who meet at a mental hospital in this gentle melodrama inspired by a Lee Cheong Joon short novel. Life is not so happy for Man Soo (Hyun Bin), who is burdened by a mother suffering from dementia and an indebted older brother addicted to gambling. Overwhelmed by his family tragedy and staggering circumstances, Man Soo loses his mind and ends up in a mental institution. He creates a new world for himself, one in which his family is wealthy and he can write off blank checks whenever he wants. And into this fragile world wanders troubled head nurse Soo Kyung (Lee Bo Young), who finds comfort in Man Soo’s smiling madness.
