While I did not read the book Mystic River, I felt, while watching this movie, that I was turning through the story page by page. Clint Eastwood has mastered the fine details of this story, allowing the story to be shown and deciphered instead of flat out telling the story and skimping on the visual details. Really a lovely movie.

Forgetting the screenplay, forgetting the acting and pretty much focusing on this movie for its ending, what a piece of trash. The writer gives one of the actors a short monologue where she condones the wonton act of killing for revenge and states that a wife who admits her husband's possible guilt in a murder is a bad wife. Sorry to give a part of it away, but I finished the movie angry, not b/c of where the movie was to lead me, but moreso AT the movie.

Kudos to Eastwood!
Together with "Million Dollar baby", this film proves without a doubt that Clint Eastwood is a great director. I was very surprised to find out that he also wrote the music! Sean Penn's acting is majestic, just like the king that he is in his role....

Kudos to Eastwood!
Together with "Million Dollar baby", this film proves without a doubt that Clint Eastwood is a great director. I was very surprised to find out that he also wrote the music! Sean Penn's acting is majestic, just like the king that he is in his role. Great acting by Robbins, too. The emotional parts had a very powerful affect on me. So did the suspenseful ones and the surprising developements. Not everybody can put together such a rich film, without making it overly complex. There are plenty of thing to notice, which is why I'd personally love to see it again.
