Summary of My Favorite Season
The deteriorating health of an aging French matron reunites estranged siblings Emilie (Catherine Deneuve) and Antoine (Daniel Auteuil) in director Andre Technine's My Favorite Season. When their mother resignedly moves into the homestead of icy middle-aged Emilie, the formerly inseparable brother and sister are forced to examine the paths their lives have taken and the looming future that will bring their mother's death, but which is uncertain for them. The bourgeois Emilie clashes with the irascible Antoine. Meanwhile, their mother, who sees her children as too modern to take care of her, views them both as strangers. The emotional undercurrents erupt as Emilie and Antoine reignite their dedication to their mother, and their animosity toward each other grows. In the end they must learn how to put all of this behind them and face the rest of their lives.
