I found the entire film to be absolutely delightful. The cast was perfect. Watching Audrey Hepburn perform, even though I knew it wasn’t her singing, was pure bliss. Rex Harrison’s razor sharp delivery was nothing short of genius. Put the two together and you get one fast paced, witty, remarkably entertaining piece of cinema. Some of the scenes didn’t work as well as others. Most of the movie takes place in Harrison’s wood-paneled study, but the parts that didn’t were generally weaker. Specifically, the horse track scene was a compete waste. But as a whole, the movie was actually very good. None of it reached the point of melodic stupidity that I’ve found in most other musicals. The songs ranged from mildly amusing to incredibly entertaining. The music itself wasn’t my favorite, but the lyrics were great. In the genre of musicals, My Fair Lady was far and away the best I’ve ever seen. Not only was it bearable, unlike most musicals, but I actually enjoyed it. Even compared to non-musicals, I think My Fair Lady is worth watching.
