Mr. & Mrs. Smith takes director Doug Liman?s ability to add a sense of apprehension and urgency to even the quietest of scenes, Brad Pitt?s Ocean?s 11 style off-beat comedic delivery, and Angelina Jolie?s exquisite beauty and enthusiasm and combines them into a wonderfully entertaining action flick.
Plot-wise, Mr. & Mrs. Smith is as ridiculous as they come. Put too much thought into this film and the holes and inconsistencies will bring you tears. And I mean that in a bad way. Yes, the thought of two assassins married and living together without realizing the other?s identity is absurd. Yes, Jolie?s team of hot chicks looked like something out of Charlie?s Angels, and it was dumb. Yes, the entire movie was based in a world far removed from reality. But the movie is fun! And it?s that enjoyment that ultimately matters.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were probably the perfect choices for the main characters. Brad Pitt is just sensational is everything he does. His ability for comedy is becoming quite apparent, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith is more evidence. His quirky style and delivery make all of his characters memorable, even with names like John Smith. On the down side, it also makes all of his lighter characters very similar. Jolie is, first and foremost, stunningly beautiful. When a woman is this gorgeous in such an exotic and erotic fashion, her looks often outshine the rest of the movie. In Mr. & Mrs. Smith they blended perfectly. I realize that the chances of a deadly assassin being so beautiful are slim, but it was the dark sense of enjoyment Jolie added that made her the perfect casting choice. Looking at these two, guns in hand, you can suspend your disbelief for a brief moment and lose yourself in a fantasy world full of deadly, attractive assassins, and have splendid time doing it.

It seems like most critics just can��t sit back and enjoy movies unless they are, a) artsy, b) depressing, or c) 3 hours long. This is of course a blatant generalization on my part but I do think that it��s true that most critics can��t seem to just have fun anymore. Speed Racer, one of my favorite films of the year, received only 36% on Rotten Tomatoes. God forbid that a critic actually recommend a movie that wants only to entertain you for an hour and a half. Mr. & Mrs. Smith is one of those movies.
This movie knows what you want to see. Explosions, action, chemistry (sorry, nerds. not that kind), and more explosions. And explosions ye shall receive. The movie expects nothing of you so you shouldn��t expect so much from it. Pitt and Jolie have good chemistry together and it��s fun to watch them dance around each other with their secrets. Brad Pitt especially appears to be having fun and come on, he��s playing the husband of one of cinema��s more attractive ladies. What guy wouldn��t be loving that? Overall, a good action flick with a little bit of romance sprinkled on top.

Interesting, and not really what I was expecting. I found that this movie was silly throughout, and it took me some time to realize that that was their intention. Everything is hard to believe, and none of it is really possible, but the action held my attention. If you go into this just with a clear mind, and don't think about it, you'll enjoy it. To me, it was just a popcorn action movie without much of a plot. The action scenes and fight choreography are just so good, it makes up for the silliness and shortcomings of the film. Pretty good stuff.

This fast-paced action comedy didn't bore me for even a second. There's something for everyone: the boys get Angelina Jolie and the girls get Brad Pitt. And if that's not enough, the movie is also suspenseful and funny. The only people who'll be dissatisfied are those who just enjoy Godar and Fellini and can't stand anything light.
