It's a shame to see once-great director Dario Argento become the Stephen King of horror films, but that is exactly what has happened. After creating some of the most timeless and influential films of the 70's, Dario has spent the last 10 years putting out crap that seems, at best, like an imitation of his former self. Now, like King, he has gone and created a severely mediocre finish to his greatest work, the Three Mothers trilogy. Story-wise, the film is serviceable, although like a lot of writers whose previous work has sometimes been misinterpreted, he falls into the trap of over-explaining everything that is going on. The biggest problem is that the visual flair that Argento exhibited in his earlier career is completely non-evident here. And when you're supposed to be capping the trilogy with "Suspiria" and "Inferno," you need to recall some of the visual style on display in those films. All in all, this film is not a complete waste of your time. You do get to see Asia Argento try to act terrified as she runs from a monkey. But this last installment of the Three Mothers trilogy does not live up to the previous entries.
