I did not expect much going into this movie, but it was chosen by my kids for a family night. I am sorry to say that even with my low expectations, I was still left disappointed. Owen Wilson, the voice of Marmaduke, just seems to be going farther...

I did not expect much going into this movie, but it was chosen by my kids for a family night. I am sorry to say that even with my low expectations, I was still left disappointed. Owen Wilson, the voice of Marmaduke, just seems to be going farther and farther downhill. Marmaduke is based on the comic strip icon that has been drawn by Brad Anderson since 1954. He is a big, goofy Great Dane, and is played by at least two dogs in the film. Marmaduke and his family make the move to intimidating California (from comfortable Kansas); forcing him to make new canine friends, while fighting off the neighborhood ‘dullys’ (dog bullys). It is a classic ‘be yourself and accept others’ type of children’s movie, but that is hard to follow at times being masked by all the poop jokes.

Cute dog, but nothing more
Based on a comic strip, this movie is fun but somewhat disappointing. The kids enjoyed it, but I did not relate as much.

Some parts of this movie were funny, others were touching, but all in all it’s not a good picture. The jokes are an insult to viewer’s intelligence, and even though it’s made for kids, some effort on the comical side would have been appreciated. As...

Bad Comedy

The jokes are an insult to viewer’s intelligence, and even though it’s made for kids, some effort on the comical side would have been appreciated. As a family outing I guess it’s alright, just keep your expectations low when it comes to the humoristic aspect of it.
