Great, super, I cried! The movie brings back a lot of emotion for me.......!!!! Even if you do not like love stories-musicals, this is a must see.

Until I saw this movie, I did not think it was possible for ABBA songs to seem any less substantial. Amanda Seyfried is a beautiful young actress (and shows more singing ability than anyone else in the case). Pierce Brosnan's voice is gruesome, and having seen Meryl Streep in this, I find it hard to believe that this same actress was in Sophie's Choice. Even beyond the dubious premise, the story and script are not merely bad, but they proceed as though gleefully self-aware of their own badness (see, for example, the "Dancing Queen" or "Does Your Mother Know" numbers). For fans of the stage play, a must-see; for fans of ABBA music, an interesting curiosity; for everyone else, a must-avoid.

I don't know where all the raves were coming from. This movie was lame! Merril Streep was so miscast that it was almost disturbing. The music was fabulous of course, but if they were going to lip-sync anyway, why not use the original ABBA recordings. Pierce Brosnan can't sing a note! The only thing worse than seeing this movie at home would have been to see it in the theater with the entire audience singing along.

A girlfriend of mine and I went to see this film because, to tell you the truth, we are such girly girls and we love musicals! But, of course, a few guys came into our theater and sat right behind us, trying to put a damper on our movie watching experience. They did not succeed and I thoroughly enjoyed this silly musical! All the characters had a great voice (yes, even Brosnan and Firth!) and had me smiling the whole time. It's a feet-tapping, jolly-good time and will have you singing on your way out of the theater!

Wow! cringe worthy at almost every turn... I couldn't stop laughing NOT in a good way) every time the Greek townspeople seemed to pop out of nowhere to join in as the chorus behind actors who really, no, REALLY can't sing. Just picture that image......

Just picture that image... imagine them in flippers and speedos... that's how bad it is... no, really.
(btw: I like musicals)

8/10Great
When I first went to see this flick with my better half, I really didn't care for it. I'm an avid music lover of all genres other than heavy metal and improvisational jazz (I know I'm not alone in that) and was fairly critical of the amateur-grade singing by decidedly professional-grade actors. Hairspray nailed this approach. Mamma Mia! doesn't. However, having purchased the soundtrack shortly after seeing the film in theaters, I've found myself listening to the album from time to time over the past few months, and you know what? I'm now starting to like it precisely FOR its fresh amateur qualities. Couple the now familiar versions of the songs with this startlingly gorgeous and colorful Blu-ray release, and suddenly I find myself punching up 8/10 and 4/5's for this thing. It's just good fun, and that's not bad.
