Love Happens, 2009

Unlike most movies based on formula (boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back with 3rd act speech) or movies based on Nicholas Sparks' books (where they milk the tears and melodrama) this movie is genuinely good because its fairly realistic. The trailer tricks you into thinking this is a romantic comedy when it is really a dramatic love story. Great acting turns by the lead and supporting cast. Judy Greer and John Carroll Lynch as the best friend and grieving father/workshop attendee, respectfully. And though the end of the movie is satisfying it does not go out of its way to over explain nor over-resolve (do they get married, do they continue to date, what happens after Seattle etc.) A solid movie worth renting.
