It's as if they sat around in a room and came up with every romance movie cliche and, instead of picking just one, said 'hey, why don't we try and roll all of them into one movie.' The result is a cobbled and poorly written script in which characters routinely break character trends. The character development is bad, the script is bad. A decent soundtrack and video quality on the Blu-ray saves this from a 1-star rating.

Of all the British comedies of the past few years this one left me wanting so much more the most. Despite the great cast this movie just fell flat so many times. It starts out telling you that its a movie above the strength of love then it goes on to use about 10 vignettes to try and prove its point. It would have been better to limit this to only two love stories and flush them out. It couldve have done so by focusing on the Emma Thompson/Alan Rickman relationship and the Laura Linney/Rodrigo Santoro relationship. There was so much potential in these two stories, yet the movie barely touched on them. What would be a better way to show the strength of love then showing how these two relationships overcome the extreme difficulties that they face!? All of the other relationships in the film seemed trite and too forced. The story of the two stand-ins for porn stars was sweet but unbelievable. It seemed as if they were added to get some extra nudity into the movie. The story of the man going to America to get laid was complete fantasy and didnt fit in with any of the vignettes. The Colin Firth story was rushed and the Hugh Grant story came across as nothing more then filler. Overall, the filmmakers just tried to put too much in this film. Its always better to have a few developed stories then a ton of underdeveloped stories. The film has its moments of humor and some fine acting, so therefore it is not a complete waste. The bookend scenes of the airport were really nice as were some of the deleted scenes, but overall I would recommend putting this movie towards the bottom of you queue.

such a touching and romantic movie!
This is the perfect movie for a romantic date night - no matter if it's a first date or just snuggling with your boyfriend of the past 5 years. the plot revolves around multiple stories, each of them somehow dealing with love. the cast is wonderful...

This is the perfect movie for a romantic date night - no matter if it's a first date or just snuggling with your boyfriend of the past 5 years. the plot revolves around multiple stories, each of them somehow dealing with love. the cast is wonderful and the whole atmosphere of the movie is "feel good." very recommended indeed!
