Summary of Long Weekend
A haunting, ecologically conscious horror film from 1970s Australia, this unforgettable curio will stick with audiences long after viewing. Marcia (Briony Behets) and Peter (John Hargreaves) are a young couple whose marriage is on the rocks. They set out for a relaxing weekend of camping, settling in on an isolated beach where they hope to repair their relationship. It soon becomes apparent, however, that the pair has some unpleasant tendencies, which are manifest in their complete disregard for the environment. After hitting a kangaroo with their car, they leave it for dead, and everywhere they go, they leave a trail of refuse in their wake. Soon, the animals observing this behavior decide that they are not going to take it anymore, and they lash back at Peter and Marcia with a brutal vengeance. Atmospheric and quirky, this creepy gem of a movie delivers a message along with its terror.
