One of those movies you never heard of that should have been a sleeper hit! A compelling film about killers and detectives show are chasing them. This is a period piece involving true character studys. Maybe I didnt expect anything and that is the reason why this film really won me over. Honestly this is just a well done movie with a great script with some intense acting by the likes of Travolta and Leto. This film has some gruesome scenes that will stick with you but once you start watching it you won't be able to stop viewing it until the credits start rolling which happend too soon. I can see this film becoming very popular on dvd, cable, and pay-per-view. I'm happy I gave this film a chance, hopefully others will too.

"Lonely Hearts" tells the true tale of two detectives who solve a string of murders committed on Long Island, NY, in the 1950s, by a pair of lovers who prey on lonely women with bank accounts. The story tracks the growing obsession of the killers with both violence and each other, but the main story is the police drama. The film unsuccessfully attempts to link the two stories, and desperately wants you to see a parallel between the killers who are at least in love and one of the detectives, who's turned to ice after his wife killed herself some years before. The parallel doesn't hold water, but it's pretty easy to ignore amid the good acting and the excellent recreation of the 1950s.
