Lagaan, 2001

Though this movie contains 2 good musical numbers (good music, but trite dancing) the rest of the movie is forgettable. Just by looking at the poster for the movie you can figure out the whole plot. The snobbish British challenge the peasant Indians to a cricket match where the future of the village and the whole region is at stake. We have a love triangle, a brave hero, and some funny and quirky characters. At the end, the result is cartoonish, poorly acted, and lame dialogs make this musical closer to a soap opera than to a major film release. The story is a formula where we know that good will triumph over evil, every trick on the book was played and the result is predictable and uninteresting.
