I've seen Crash and Walk the Line and fail to see why this superior film isn't among the top five. Batman Begins is another that I preferred to the above mentioned (WTL and C)but King Kong was better. The three other Kong movies, original and '76...

I've seen Crash and Walk the Line and fail to see why this superior film isn't among the top five. Batman Begins is another that I preferred to the above mentioned (WTL and C)but King Kong was better. The three other Kong movies, original and '76 remake were good but I like this one best. Remember, this is the movie Peter Jackson wanted to make more the Rings Trilogy. Rings Trilogy is better but check King Kong out especially on the big screen.

I loved this movie!! The one thing Peter Jackson could have done, was cut down the first hour, but quite honestly, the film was so good, before I knew it 3 hours had gone by and I didn't even think about it being too long. I thought it was...

I loved this movie!! The one thing Peter Jackson could have done, was cut down the first hour, but quite honestly, the film was so good, before I knew it 3 hours had gone by and I didn't even think about it being too long. I thought it was well-casted, had great special effects, and was a lot of fun! It made me jump in a couple of scenes, and I am no stranger to scary/horror movies...I have quite a collection...I even had a tear in my eye at the end when Kong got killed. I highly recommend this roller coaster ride movie!! Loads of fun!!

Disappointing. Another example of a remake without a purpose. Story was an odd twist on the original and some of the special effects were distracting.

You know a movie is bad when the CGI 50 monster is the best actor in the film.

You know a movie is bad when the CGI 50 monster is the best actor in the film.
Unless you are a LOTR geek slurping Peter Jackson, you have to see this movie in its proper perspective. It could just as easily won a Razzie award for all of the terrible perfromances in it. Jack Black is flat out unbelievable. Naomi Watts and Adrienne Brody phone it in. Every other character is a walking cliche.
While on the one hand there are some great special effects sequences, there is also some of the most cheap looking green screen work since herbie the love bug 1968.
In one of the better sequences, Kong takes on three T-Rex. The question I kept thinking was, why would any animal risk a beat down for a tic-tac.The answer would be that you need to fill an already overstuffed movie. Two of the animals were already enjoying a meal when they had to stop what they were doing to chow down on a Watts appetizer. I liked a lot of the sequences better when I saw them before in Jurraic Park.

Peter Jackson sure knows how to make a visually astounding film, it's just too bad he doesn't know when to say "when". He's clearly not a fan of the phrase "less is more", because this movie is all about more - more dinosaurs, more bugs, more over-the-top action, more unnecessary characters, more prolonged scenes of Naomi Watts and a big monkey staring wordlessly at one another, more everything! The big problem with Jackson's films of late is that he insists on infusing them with more melodrama and gravitas than they really warrant. This was, after all, a remake of a campy, 90-minute film from 1933 about a giant ape who falls in love. This is not Schindler's List or the Passion of the Christ. By the end of this bloated, 3-hour tragedy, assuming you're still awake, you're more likely to be laughing at how serious it takes itself, rather than crying over the fate of its misunderstood hero. Note to Peter Jackson: hire an editor. All that said, the movie is still gorgeous and I love Naomi Watts, so I have to give it at least 3 stars.

Three kids (6,8,10) site through this movie without a word. ALthough I was restless the first 45 minutes.
Yes, some parts were scary for a 6 yr old (I expected as much) but she was eager to watch it and daddy was there.

She was scared of Kong, but cried for him when he got hurt. Clapped when overcame adversity. Cheered when he escaped and at last, exhausted, asked Why when he died at the end.
Seen through her eyes the movie was spellbinding.
It may not be right from some kids younger than 8. Those who do see it should watch it with a parent, as it was more intense than I anticipated.(Dinosaurs stomp a few men when trying to flee predators. Kong bites a man's head off and quickly disposes of him.)
I don't think there is anything here you didn't see in Juraissic Park 1,2,3 when gaging violence.
