Most of the other reviews allude to the KungFu and Spaghetti Westerns. But this is a Japanese samurai movie. If you have ever seen a few, all the samurai movie elements are here: Revenge. Mind over body (wiggle!).

Most of the other reviews allude to the KungFu and Spaghetti Westerns. But this is a Japanese samurai movie. If you have ever seen a few, all the samurai movie elements are here: Revenge. Mind over body (wiggle!).
Reverence for the art/weapon. Relentlessness. Betrayal. One against a horde. Severed limbs. Spurting blood. Squaring off against a worthy adversary, with mutual respect intertwined with hatred. A serene, snow-falling setting for the finale... This is a samurai movie with Caucasian and Chinese actors. Not convinced? Sonny Chiba ain't there for decoration.
If you like samurai films, this one is for you. Not as cerebral as "The Last
Samurai" - more like the Zatoichi genre (only the Bride can see!)
If you liked Kill Bill, try "Harakiri" with Tatsuya Nakadai. Same attributes as above, though the cause for the revenge is different. And Nakadai is splendid. The pace isn't as frenetic as Kill Bill 1, however, and it is without humor. But it has even more of a justification for revenge.

This movie is amazing. My friend recommended it to me and I fell in love. If you like assassins in movies then this is your flick. A story of revenge, gore and moderate humor, but mostly gore. Uma Thurman just kicking total a*$. The assassins have their own unique and diverse story lines. If you're looking for a good Quentin Terrintino film then this is the perfect movie for you....... WIGGLE YOUR BIG TOE.

I've read most of the user reviews and either people detest this movie or love it to death. I'm in the latter category and I did feel that the movie did have a plot. It's not drama, it's pure action and in the down-times, The Bride fills you in on...

I've read most of the user reviews and either people detest this movie or love it to death. I'm in the latter category and I did feel that the movie did have a plot. It's not drama, it's pure action and in the down-times, The Bride fills you in on some details. I have seen vol 2, and it is the exact opposite of Vol1, full of dialouge instead of blood.
So i'll spare you a review because no one's review here is helpful. It's up to you if you like it really. I don't think there's any middle ground when it comes to this movie. It's either enjoy or detest.
All I can say is that Vol 1. does take place in a very unbelievable world, and if you like that kind of ride, then you'll like Kill Bill.

Wow I absolutely HATED this movie, I came in with high hope but it was just an hour and a half of fight scene with Ulma Thurman being Wonder Woman with no actual three dimensional villain, Wiggle your big toe, an absolute waste of 111 minutes.

classic tarantino
Lots of refences to manga comcs and samurais. Lots of graphic and bloody violence. Great fights and weird occurrences straight from the mind of this bizarre director (mind his foot fetish :))

Brilliantly directed and visually beautiful. Uma Thurman as the tough bride is amazing. the fight scenes are exciting and fun to watch. It's full of references to old samurai films, and if you know them it's even more fun to watch, but even if you don't, it's still a really good action film. not to be separated from part 2, of course.
