Summary of Keyhole

Idiosyncratic, cheeky and uncategorizable, the films of Guy Maddin are testaments to the singular vision of a great contemporary cinema artist, and Keyhole may be his boldest film yet. A surreal indoor odyssey of one man, Ulysses Pick (Jason Patric) struggling to reach his wife (Isabella Rosellini) in her bedroom upstairs, this hypnotic dreamlike journey bewilders and captivates.

Not Maddin's Best, but still...
As a Guy Maddin fan my expectations were high. I was a bit disappointed, because the film seems a bit infatuated with its own idiosyncrasy. There are redeeming qualities, but I have seen better from this excellent director.
A Bit Too Much
Sometimes the surreal atmosphere seems forced and unnecessary. It would have worked better as a short movie. It feels like the movie doesn't have a solid ground to land on amid all the craziness.
Likely to see
Not for me
