Summary of Kakraki
A careful man develops a reckless streak when his heart overpowers his good sense in this Russian comedy-drama inspired by the works of Nikolai Gogol. Mikhail Mikhailovich (Mikhail Efremov) is a middle-aged man who works in a government law office in Moscow. Mikhail is a successful man who is well-to-do, has a solid family and seems to have learned with the years just how much he can get away with without causing himself too much trouble. But Mikhail's sense of caution abandons him when he visits a bookshop and meets Nastya (Olga Sun), a lovely young Chinese woman who is a sales clerk. For Mikhail, it's love at first sight, and he's willing to do anything for Nastya. And as it happens, Nastya could use some help -- her mother is in poor health and needs surgery that can only be performed in Germany. Mikhail is more than willing to pull some strings to allow Nastya's mother to get the treatment she needs, but it sends him down a path that proves to have life-altering consequences. Kakraki (aka Crawfishlike) was the first feature film from writer and director Ilya Demichev.
