Summary of Kaitanshi jokei
Harsh winter in the port town of Kaitan. A young man is laid off at the shipyard and can no longer support his sister. The manager of the planetarium is cuckolded by his wife. The owner of the gas station can’t contain his frustrations and beats his new wife who in turn hits his son. A young man living in Tokyo comes to visits his mother’s grave but doesn’t visit his estranged father. An old woman refuses to clear out of her house which is slated for demolition. Just then, her cat disappears.
