I just finished watching this movie. I didnt know what to expect but I like David Duchovny so I thought I would give it a shot. I am glad I did. Its not great by any means but it was enjoyable with a somewhat original plot. My main complaint with the movie is that I think it could have been a lot better if it had been more dark in theme. As it is, I couldnt tell if the director was trying to make this a satirical film or a comedy.
I did end up giving it four stars instead of three because of the cast. The acting is fantastic.

This is a fun film that will keep you interested till the end. It starts from a great and original premise, and builds a decent story around it.
The film also has some social commentary build in, but there isn't anything new there. It doesn't seem to go much farther then 'consumerism is bad' and 'don't drink and drive'.
David Duchovny does bring his 'no bullshit'-attitude to the film. It is similar to the role he plays in Californication. He plays the man who has seen it all and wont play games anymore.
If you want to watch this film for the comedy and the drama, then you are in for a treat. If you expect deep moral issues, the you will be disappointed.

Clever and Original
A satire about American consumerism. Clever and funny in the beginning, its witty edge dulls down as the movie progresses, leading to an ending that's more dramatic than comical. It is certainly thought-provoking and worth a viewing.

Well, how bad can you go with a comedy?
I love the pitch, it appeared very original. Those ideas we read about everyday at work, about being controlled by consumerism is put the test here. Sadly, there's nothing kicking or poignant about it. We get a nice comedy which is lovely to watch with a date for example, but is really not on the top of my holiday wishlist DVD titles.
