While the story of the movie isn't great, the execution is superb. It's funny, witty, and there isn't much down time between funny moments. This movie has so many small aspects that make it funny, that you don't even catch most of them until you have watched it more than once. Also, I'm not sure what it is, but any movie with either Luke Wilson or Terry Crews is always pure gold in my book (with the exception of Balls of Fury for Terry and Charlie s Angels for Luke). If you like stupid movies, but are looking for something more better than jokes about current events or a parody about the latest super hero/horror movie - look no further.

It definitely had some great ideas, but actually seeing it on screen isn't that funny. Sure, there are moments that are definitely funny, but it's nowhere near as slick as Office Space with the dry wit and humor or even humor to be honest. None of the characters really stand out as memorable and Maya Rudolph is pretty much eye-candy with very little to do. I was hoping for more, perhaps I should have expected less and I would have liked it more.

I like stupid movies that make me laugh and while this movie had it's moments it just fell flat on it's face. I like Mike Judge's humor and this had a great concept but it never could get itself together. Watch at your own risk.

Mike Judge's latest comedy will probably never be the cult hit that his endlessly quotable 2000 opus, Office Space, is, but Idiocracy is still a worthy effort from Judge and co. It certainly didn't deserve to be swept into obscurity after spending only a few milliseconds in theaters. I guess I can see how it might have offended some people - Fuddrucker's, for instance - but it's not as though it's overly vulgar. It's actually quite tame compared to other R-rated Frat Pack flicks. Plus, this film actually has a good point to make. Sure, it beats you over the head with it, but it's still valid. As a society, we really are getting dumber, for basically the reasons outlined at the beginning of the movie. The global IQ steadily decreases every year, which sadly makes this one of the more realistic depictions of a dystopic future ever put on film. As I said, Idiocracy isn't as quotable as Office Space, mainly because its humor is more visual than verbal. The jokes here are mostly sophomoric, but still funny most of the time, and Office Space fans will be pleased by the cameos from some familiar faces.

A fanatastic premise that delivers a few good laughs and a few moments to truly ponder the world we live in; unfortunately, these moments are too few and far between. Most of the film, we find ourselves waiting for the next funny or poignant thing to happen, while exposition takes place on the screne that we can only assume Mike Judge intended to be funny, or thought-provoking, or creatively absurd. But usually the plot devices are none of these things, and the film's ending is quite disappointing; it ties up all the ends and gives us a happy Hollywood ending. It feels diametrically opposed to everything the film attempts to rail against.

It seems the future world is run by wrestling fans and perverts.
Unfortunately, while watching this movie I recognized folks that I have met.

from the guy who did Office space i expected a lot, and i wasn't disappointed: this movie was offbeat, hilarious and thought provoking. it has a lot of funny actors in it: Luke Wilson, Dax Shepard, Terry Crews, Justin Long and Maya Rudolph and it has the writer/director who did Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, and what you get as a result is a very good comedy that even has something to say.
