Like some other reviewers, I had low expectations but was pleasantly surprised. I would describe it as an Asimov inspired movie, with the Fresh Prince as the lead. And since I like both Wil Smith AND classic Asimov I found it an enjoyable synergy....

And since I like both Wil Smith AND classic Asimov I found it an enjoyable synergy. And, by the way, no flying cars for once in a cinematic near future - yay!

I must admit, I was a little hesitant about seeing this movie. It looked like another glossy, Will Smith action flick.... and it is, for the most part.
Will Smith stars as a cop in 2035. Because of a traumatic event involving a robot, Smith is very prejudiced towards robots. This is unfortunate for him since in 2035, robots are everywhere. Bridget Moynahan stars as the scientist working for the robotics company.
The movie has incredible action sequences. The twist at the end is what really sold me on the movie though. I was completely surprised by what happened at the end. Sonny, the robot helping Will Smith, steals the show. He adds a dimension to the movie that wouldn't have been there otherwise.
My biggest complaint about this movie is the strained chemistry between Will Smith and Bridget Moynahan. It seemed that the writers couldn't decide if they wanted the two of them to like each other romantically or not. This indecisiveness leaves you scratching your head at the end of the movie wondering what you were supposed to think.
The only nudity in this movie is you see the side of Will Smith's butt. Violence is consistant throughout the movie and I don't think Will Smith is capable of starring in a movie with a small amount of language. I don't remember any sexual innuendoes so if they are there they are hardly noticeable.
This movie was a good summer popcorn flick. If you want an action movie with an interesting twist at the end, rent I, Robot.

what a piece of junk – I mean, really really bad – teenage kids who grew up on power rangers wrote this – characters absolutely unbelievable – little twists are condescending - fast forward through most of it – theres still little mysteries n’ shit...

what a piece of junk – I mean, really really bad – teenage kids who grew up on power rangers wrote this – characters absolutely unbelievable – little twists are condescending - fast forward through most of it – theres still little mysteries n’ shit that I’m curious about, but no big twists – constantly has scenes that were obviously made for the videogame – Level 5 will smith vs house wrecker – Level 7 Will Smith vs. Two big vehicles full of robots – meh – bored – just flat out bored – nothing worse than when a movie bores you – turn it off and play SNES instead -

For the first 1/3 of this film, the story struggles to capture the audience, I think because it is so overwhelming. You are asked to believe too much - from the idea of having robots as butlers, to cars that drive themselves - it's a lot to take in....

You are asked to believe too much - from the idea of having robots as butlers, to cars that drive themselves - it's a lot to take in. Later on, it picks up speed, when the action starts happening. I, Robot relishes in action, and it is really an amazing sight seeing millions of cloned robots flying around and being blown to bits. The surprising part is the humanity given to a sole robot, who has brains and feelings. He gives the film heart - something that you wouldn't expect at first. It's occasionally silly and Will Smith is a little too superheroic, but I really liked this in the end.

The plot about A.I. robots who disobey the rules is very interesting and unique, and the future dystopia looks beautiful. I enjoyed it very much.
