How to Lose Friends & Alienate People, 2008

Ho hum - it hovers between 2 and 3 stars. Not terribly interesting or altogether that funny, I was definitely disappointed in this movie. Story of a brit satirist who gets an opportunity to come to NY to work for a company he's recently lampooned - thinking he's getting this big break. Really, there weren't any bad performances by the actors to speak of, it's the material that suffers. Pegg is initially an unlikable character as he plows through moronic situations acting like a - well - moron. At some point he comes to realize he's either gotta play by the rules or lose his job. The problem was I wasn't really caring all that much and there were only a few humorous situations that stood out. Most of it was, for me at least, boring. Danny Huston, Kirsten Dunst and Gillian Anderson all put it great performances - but there's so little entertainment it all goes to waste unfortunately.
