They almost got it right. They certainly get an A for effort, but the final product didn't live up to my expectations.

They almost got it right. They certainly get an A for effort, but the final product didn't live up to my expectations.
The first half of the movie was great. The setup was quick and the jokes were funny. Will Smith and Kevin James worked great together. Several scenes had me laughing out loud. Even the script was pretty decent. The dialogue was more natural than most romantic comedies and the actors' reactions to each other were believable. But then Hitch fell apart.
Every story has to have some kind of conflict, and I think that's what ruined Hitch for me. I won't give away the plot (like you can't see it coming...) but the resolution of the conflict fell flat on its face. Suddenly the dialogue became incredibly hokey and completely unrealistic. The characters took 180s and became different people. The story got boring and tedious and I felt like finishing the movie was a chore. The ending just didn't work for me.
Hitch wasn't a bad movie by any means. Kevin James was perfectly cast and Will Smith was his usual amusing and suave self. As far as romantic comedies go, this one really stands out. Because Hitch is told from a man's point of view, the film has a unique feel to it. It's almost a romantic comedy for men, if you will. It had so much going for it, but it tripped on its own feet just before the finish line.
Hitch was a better-than-average romantic comedy, but just an average film in general. For the most part everything worked, especially the well selected cast. Unfortunately, the end of the movie seemed a little too out of step with reality for me to identify with it. If you like Will Smith or Kevin James, give Hitch a chance. Just don't expect a mold-breaking romantic comedy.

Can you say "Romantic Comedy"? If you look it up in the dictionary, surely this movie would be mentioned, and I can't think of a romantic comedy that I've liked this much in while. Hitch is about Alex "Hitch' Hitchens (Will Smith) and how he has a job as a dating consultant, but falls in love with a gossip columnist, Sara (Eva Mendes), that threatens his business. His main client at the time is Albert (Kevin James), an accountant, who wants to date one of his company's highest profile clients, Allegra Cole (Amber Valetta). Sara tries to get the scoop on the story and that is where she crosses paths with Hitch. Hitch tries to woo Sara, but all of the smooth dating advice he gives to his clients doesn't seem to help, and he has one dating disaster after another.
This movie was not overly sweet and cute, and I really liked the way we had to follow two plots to the film. There was the plot of the accountant trying to date his client, who seemed to be out of his league, and there was the story of Hitch and Sara. I never got bored with the movie, and most of the funny moments were actually funny.

I saw this movie on an airplane, and it had most of the cabin laughing. Light on romance, high on humour, with good pace throughout the movie. Like all date movies, a bit predictable, but it was peppered with a consistent amount of laughs and fun.

Good fun time
A cute movie about 'Hitch' a guy who helps insecure men get the woman of their dreams. Hilarity ensues as Hitch coaches these men thru the process of dating the love of their lives. A cute fun movie.

Hitch, played brightly by Will Smith, is a guy who helps men out with their woman problems. Having had his heart broken himself as a young nerdy college student, Hitch learns the tricks of the trade on how to attract women. He starts a underground business of helping men attract their dream woman.
The movie then continues into a serious of events that Hitch conjures up for his clients, until Hitch falls for a woman and his usual tricks dont work!
I was really suprised with this film, it ended up being rather realistic and very funny. Go watch it people!
