I'm a sucker for good romantic comedies, but I can't say I loved this. My biggest problem with is was that a very funny & insightful book was made into a forgettable film which relies too much on its talented cast and not enough on the actual strengths of the book. In fact, aside from the title, the film had little in common with the book. And the stellar cast just made the bad screenplay stand out more precisely because they're capable of more. If the screenplay had just stuck with the book instead of aiming for a Hollywood formula, this could have been an actually funny film. Affleck, Barrymore & Aniston-- all of whom I normally like-- were given cliché roles. The Affleck-Aniston relationship was the only realistic one, but the "Girl wants a ring & a fancy wedding/Boy doesn't" theme has been done to death & in far better romantic comedies. Goodwin's 'Gigi' was so annoyingly over-the-top that she actually made me relate to the guys who ran from her. And Jennifer Connelly was so tightly-wound and neurotic that she seemed downright unstable and therefore a much less sympathetic character. Scarlet Johansson looked great but laid it on so thick as the seductive "yoga teacher" that her character became unlikable fairly quickly. Justin Long was somewhat funny and the only character I enjoyed. ~NN

Hes Just Not That Into You doesnt break many molds for romantic comedies. Its fun, light, touching and at times more.
Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin) is a hopeless romantic whos desperate to fall in love. The problem is that she comes off clingy, needy and pathetic. Not exactly a magnet for guys. She works with Janine (Jennifer Conelly) and Beth (Jennifer Anniston). Janine and Beth are in happy, seemingly healthy relationships and offer dating advice to Gigi.
Scarlett Johansson plays Anna, a Yoga instructor who calls the shots in her relationships and goes after what she likes, even if the guy is taken. Theyre all interconnected through the various men in their lives which creates a tangled web to be unraveled by the end of the film.
..........
I have not read the book, so I cannot speak on whether this is a good adaptation, but as a movie, its not bad. The plot grinds along and you can see it working piece-by-piece, and each character has a distinct role in connection with Gigis goal.
Hes Just Not That Into You is an above average romantic comedy with more depth and slightly less predictability than other films in the genre. Ultimately this film tries to empower women, and says that women (and men for that matter) dont need to try so hard to find someone. It is when you are not trying that you discover what you want, who you are, and who makes you happy. Three stars.

a pretty good 6/10
Although I only gave this a 6/10 I highly recommend watching it. It may be tricky to understand my meaning when I say it's a "really good 6/10" since my rating should be to imply how good it is so let me try to explain. There is nothing spectacular about this movie, nothing amazing, it didn't having me laughing hysterically and it never brought me to tears. So you ask, What did it have going for it? Everything. Great cast, the acting was terrific. The plots were great, there was a nice blend of emotions and you can easily relate to the characters. Most of the time I rate a movie 6/10 it's not as well rounded or balanced as this movie, most movies I give such a rating are spectacular in one sense but seriously lacking in other aspects whereas I don't have a single complaint about this movie and thought it was pretty good all around.

I actually really enjoyed this. The star power was there. It was great to see Ginnifer Goodwin and Justin Long back together since 'Ed'. I think in the end, Jennifer Aniston and Ben Affleck's relationship was the bestest.
