He is getting old
I guess when I get as old as the venerable director (whose other stuff I greatly enjoyed generally) I might get sentimental and worried about the afterlife. I just hope I don't take it out on people by making a mediocre movie.

Clint has the Midas touch
Everything he touches turns into gold, even a movie that deals with a subject that is very different from what Clint has been doing so far - the supernatural. Actually, come to think of it, it's exactly the kind of movie Eastwood has been doing in recent years: An emotional, tear jerking drama (that also has a hint of the supernatural)..To keep face, I avoided weeping during the movie, but it really came close :)

A hopeful combination...
I saw this movie because of Matt Damon. When I heard that Clint Eastwood was the director, I just ran through the list of his movies that I enjoyed. This movie was okay enough to watch but not to recommend or purchase. All of the characters were somewhat interesting--underdeveloped, really--and well-acted but the story wasn't enough to keep me once it drew me in. My favorite interaction was between Matt Damon and Byrce Dallas Howard in the apartment. Overall, the movie has its points of high drama, but then it plateaus...maybe it's due to the time restriction of a movie combined with the squeezing of someone's life into that neatly wrapped two-hour box. But, whatever your reason for watching this movie or not, the combination of Matt Damon and Clint Eastwood in Hereafter falls short. I hope they'll give it another go in the future.

Clint Eastwood brings us another gem with Hereafter. It was high on the suspense meter, but a bit lower on the mystery gage. My eyes were glued to the screen, and my ears were wide open (I found them to whisper a bit much for my taste). I did not want to miss a second because I know when I do I tend to miss the most crucial part. I am not sure if I was more impressed with Eastwood as an actor, or the wonderful actors. Matt Damon was the one to bring his best to the table, which made me appreciate what a talented and seamless actor he really is. Overall, more emotional than I would have liked, but good times!

Without the spoon-feeding
This movie doesn't answer the question of what comes after death. You're getting here something that runs in your mind, and lets you figure out your own ideas. It leaves you to wonder what, if at all, is there after.
