One of the all time great movies. Violent? Yes, but with superb direction and special effects. HEAT has excellent acting throughout. In this movie you will see at least twenty actors who go on after HEAT to have great careers. The scene with De Niro...

One of the all time great movies. Violent? Yes, but with superb direction and special effects. HEAT has excellent acting throughout. In this movie you will see at least twenty actors who go on after HEAT to have great careers. The scene with De Niro and Pacino in the restaurant is a chance to see these two greats together in their prime.

After hearing about Heat being highly regarded (and assuming they were being sarcastic) for so long, I finally watched it. It's really good. If you are a fan of organized crime movies, you will enjoy it. I think the best part is having Pacino and De Niro on screen together, because this is the kind of movie they relish in. Their acting is great here... I really rooted for De Niro, the "bad guy" in Heat. Though 172 minutes makes for a long movie, I still wanted to know what happened at the end. The best part is a shootout featuring the entire cast in the middle of a downtown street. The echo off of the buildings, the glass flying, the bullet holes in the cars... it was quite enthralling. I wish there had been one or two more of those types of shootouts, but all in all, this was a great movie that I marveled at - and it lives up to the hype.
