Nice
This one was for uplifting laughter. Did it have to be the "Comedy Movie of The Decade?" No. It just had to be one to see, to laugh and to waste sometime whilst doing so. It was pretty good.

Since the introduction of the road trip movie stoners have feasted on the genre for their laughing highs.Harold and Kumar reaches out to this audience, filling their movie with cheap jokes that actually manage to be hilarious. The story behind Harold and Kumar is secretly a brilliant concept simply because there is no plot. The first installment of this series as follows:two friends get the munchies, crave White Castle, and meet some odd characters along the way to get their burgers.
John Cho and Kal Penn feed off each other, constantly bouncing their lines back and forth.Cho takes the part of hard-working Harold who tends to avoid trouble besides the occasional toke of his favorite plant.Penn of course is on a whole other level as the crude partying Kumar being forced into the medical profession by his father while hed rather be smoking up.They both turn in two of the best comedic performances in recent memory.
Perhaps the only thing better than Cho and Penn are the oddballs along the way.Freakshow(Christopher Meloni)has to be my preferred choice as an ugly god-loving man with a wife too attractive for him and the voice of an angel. Then theres the extreme team who use the word extreme in every sentence they can.Neil Patrick Harris makes an appearance as a sex-fueled drug-taking...well Neil Patrick Harris and is the most popular among fans.Special roles spread out among actors such as Anthony Anderson,Ryan Reynolds,Fred Willard, and Eddie Kaye Thomas with David Krumholtz as Rosenberg and Goldstein round out the cast as well as give the humor for comedy gold.
Ive seen White Castle more than most films and possibly thats because its so damn rewatchable.I never skip a chuckle and thats why its one of the best funny films in existence.

If nothing else, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle made me laugh. Was it the funniest comedy ever? No, but it was fairly funny. I don't generally go for the "stoner comedy" genre, with the exception of Half Baked. Although pot wasn't a major point of the plot, only motivation for the characters, I still think it took away from the movie for me. Couldn't the plot have been slightly reworked to exclude the pot?
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle started out very strong, and the first half of the movie was very funny. Unfortunately, as the movie progressed, the jokes seemed to get less funny. Maybe I just tired of the same pot-based humor after a while, but I enjoyed the first half better than the second.
There were a few standout scenes. Without giving too much away, I'll say that I loved the raccoon scene, everything with Neil Patrick Harris, and the British girls playing "Battleshit." I also thought John Cho, who played Harold, was incredibly hilarious. Something about his delivery had me laughing through the entire movie.
The DVD was good, but average. The audio mix was what I've come to expect from comedies: the music came through nicely, as did the dialogue, but the surrounds got very little use. The video was clean and sharp with vivid colors. Considering how much of the film was shot at night, the transfer looked very good.
If you're interested in stoner comedies or just want a stupid laugh, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle is worth checking out. However, if you're easily offended, you might want to pass.

This was just a silly stoner movie reminiscent of the days of cheech and chong and bill and ted. A few modern giggles with a few more far fetched scenarios. It was fun to watch, I did enjoy a laugh or two, but wouldn't watch it again.

In one word: hilarious. In many: a raunchy, extreme teen comedy that will have you laughing your butt off! Harold, a hard-worker and his rebellious, hard-partying roommate Kumar, get really hungry and only have the appetite for a White Castle burger. What seems to be just a simple road trip turns into a wild night of drunk Asians, weird truck drivers and high celebrities. This is definitely one of the funniest movies in a long time and may even become a classic. So, if you need a good laugh, rent this film and strap yourself in for a wild ride!

I'm going to say this now: Don't watch this movie unless you can deal with lots of obscenities. If you can, this is a pretty funny movie. Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, starring John Cho as Harold and Kal Penn as Kumar, is a story of the arduous journey that two stoned guys take to satisfy their craving for White Castle hamburgers.
Yes, it sounds stupid, but trust me. I think what makes this movie enjoyable is the fact that these guys aren't white. When you bring in the Asian and Indian references, it takes it to another level of funny that most of us aren't used to, which gives it points for originality. Something that also doesn't surprise me these days is that this movie is a debut screenplay by two new writers. I keep seeing good or decent movies that are writing or directorial debuts. There is also a lot of good supporting cast in this movie including Neil Patrick Harris, David Krumholtz, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Ryan Reynolds, and (my favorite) Chris Meloni as Freakshow. For me, the funniest moment in the movie is when Harold and Kumar go all out singing "One More Day" by Wilson Phillips. At the end, there's room for a sequel, but I'm on the fence for my support in that. I really, really despise the amount of sequels or prequels that come out these days. BUT, I think this one might be warranted.

I also appreciate that the two leading roles are played by members of USA minorities, a thing rarely seen in US American comedies.

Oh shit, as Kumar would say, this movie is funny. I mean, there are dumb movies, and then there are dumb movies. Of course I don't fool myself thinking this movie has any artistic quality. Its gross-out, nothing-goes-right humor is far from being high-level. But judged in its category, this might be the very best. Maybe it deserves the title "The best dumb movie ever."
