Hardware, 1990

I've not trawled all the way through all the reviews, so what I'm about to say may already have been said. I saw this film in the 90's. Not because I thought it was going to be any good, but because of what the story was based on. Whilst people have said it's based on Terminator, that's really only part of it. One of the most popular comics in the UK is 2000AD, it's been going for decades. In the past, they had shorts, which went under various titles like "Future Shock" or "Walter's Robot-Tales". Hardware(the movie) is based on one of those - the story is almost identical to the Walter's Robo-Tale called SHOK! which was based in the aftermath of the Judge Dredd "Cursed Earth" saga. Although when the film came out in 1990 there was no mention of it being based on the comic strip, subsequent legal action had the film company make a note of this, so you could almost say that this was the first movie adaption of a 2000AD comic strip (rather than the mess Stallone made of "Judge Dredd") There's some fascinating cameo's in the movie, by the likes of Iggy Pop and Carl McCoy. Worth seeing, but don't expect too much from it.
