Happy Accidents, 2000

I wanted to like this movie, but I did not. This is really a one-star movie elevated to two stars because I liked something about Vincent D'Onofrio's character. For me, the part that doesn't work is Marisa Tomei's character. I just don't believe that somebody who's known their beau for such a short period of time and then finds out he's delusional would stick with him, whether she's got the Wrong Guy Syndrome or not. I mean, when you're dating somebody who lives in a rich fantasy world, it's not like dating an alcoholic. It's not like you can lead yourself to believe that maybe he'll change. Sadly, this would have been easy to fix -- just have them know each other longer before Vincent D'Onofrio spills the beans. I also found it deeply disturbing that Marisa Tomei's character is OK with the guy being crazy, she just doesn't want him to have had other girlfriends. Now that's weird.
