This was a tough one to rate. On one hand Will smith and Charlize Theron did an amazing job, as always. However, the story really got to me. They had such a good thing going with the superhero that had personal problems (beyond girlfriend troubles)...

This was a tough one to rate. On one hand Will smith and Charlize Theron did an amazing job, as always. However, the story really got to me. They had such a good thing going with the superhero that had personal problems (beyond girlfriend troubles) and was not instantly beloved by people he saves. They later shifted to a plot line that felt cheap, even lazy. But, I have met people who have felt different. So, have a look and see if you feel the same way.

Get it together NF, I enjoy the streaming quite a bit when the material looks good but if the majority of movies coming from channels like STARZ is gonna look like this, then why bother. I can DOWNLOAD a better version right now.

I am older than the average superhero viewer and was pleasantly surprised by this movie. It wasn't at all well advertised. It had great plot developement and a terrific ending. It is a great movie to watch with your family.

could have been better.
not really that good not really that bad. Seems like they made it just because of the popularity of other superhero movies. The plot isn't that great, no real villain to counter act the superhero. no good explanation as to his origin either. ...

It starts pretty good actually, with Smith playing a pretty good ambivalent "hero" who has a drinking problem and really isn't interested in anything in general - and that makes it so interesting. It's pretty funny to watch a superhero screw up and just be obnoxious - and it's too bad so quickly that part of the story goes away. The middle portion of the movie wades through him trying to turn his image around - and while there are some funny moments in prison, it overall begins to slow down. Then they begin telegraphing the obvious that Theron has something to do with Smith and we finally get into the whole side-plot and this terrible backstory of their relationship and this whole battle that it just gets downright laughable. I don't want to throw out spoilers, but the backstory and relationship portion just stunk and really undermined the rest of the movie for me. The special effects are great however.

The previews were awesome and every time Will did any kind of press release, he made it sound even more awesome. Being awesome, and liking awesome things, I gave it a shot. It was okay.. then it just fell flat. Not awesome at all. If you like...

I loved the premise but it was poorly executed. I have two problems with this movie. The big one is I expected something different and more _mature_ based on early plot outlines on the net. I probably could have let that go more if the action wasn't broken up SO much. This is by no means a bad review. It was a fun popcorn but I just saw so much more potential in the premise.
