While it's not a movie about nothing.. a lot of nothing happens in it...
What did the director want to tell the viewers? I don't really know. That's the main problem with this movie. You wait and wait till something will happen, and in the last few minutes when there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel, the movie...

Stiller is acting rather well in a quite serious role, and the the actress playing Florence is lovable, but it doesn't save the movie from being a disappointment.

It is nice to Ben Stiller do something that isnt the in your face type of acting like in Meet the Parents, but he doesn't develop the character well enough to have you feel for him. he kinda seems Andy Kaufmanish...like hes just goofing off in front of the camera. Bad story that goes nowhere, its almost like the movie tried to be a little Lost in Translationish and well it failed miserably.

This movie is a classic case of "Great Trailer"..."Bad movie" Somehow, the editors who put together the trailer managed to take the best 50 seconds of a dreadful 2 hour film and make it look interesting. 30 minutes in, my girlfriend and I looked at each other with trepidation, asking, "Where is this film going?" Two hours later we got our answer...absolutely no where. Stay away...far, far away.

The Squid and the Whale got great reviews, I didn't like it. Margot at the Wedding had Nicole Kidman and Jack Black so I saw it - it was ultra boring. So, I found myself at a certain situation: On the one hand Greenberg is a movie that got positive reviews and it has an intriguing cast: Ben Stiller in a serious role and the eccentric Rhys Ifans. On the other hand the director and writer of the movie is Noah Baumbach which directed the two movies mentioned above that I didn't like. I've decided to watch it and once again was extremely disappointed. Will I watch Baumbach's next film? Now I say not a chance, but if it will star a naked Angelina Jolie and I will be promised free Popcorn I might be tempted again.

Baumbach creates characters in Greenberg that are hard to understand but I loved the movie all the more for it.The realism is shown here through the actions made throughout the film.Roger Greenberg is displayed as a man who wasted his teenage years and has struggled with a decision he made earlier in his life that could have resulted in a successful career.Fresh out of the mental hospital,Roger decides to stay at his brothers place while theyre away, giving him the opportunity to get to know their servant Florence who just so happens to be as confused as Roger himself. The relationships developed really make the film and the complexities of the personalities conflicting only make for a more joyful watch.
Penned by Baumbach from a story created with the help of Jennifer Jason Leigh,Greenberg is a true heartfelt story for the misplaced.A man going through a mid-life crisis gets a chance to start over and though I didnt always agree with the way the title character dealt with his issues,I was cheering for him to see it through to the other side. From the dark humor and indecision comes a triumph that a true fan of the awkward romance cant help but admire.Yes my friends,Im glad to say Greenberg is quite a victory for the viewer as well as all involved.

Surprisingly Good
We follow stiller's character in the biggest crisis of his life. I really felt for him, and though the situation might not be the brightest the film is very light and funny all along.
