Summary of The Girl from Monday

Hal Hartley's "fake science fiction" film parodies the increasing commercialism of today's society, with people representing little more than their net worth. Identified by bar codes tattooed on their wrists, affection is a thing of the past, but a small group of rebels attempt to subvert the overwhelming consumerism. Jack (Bill Sage) is a part of the media megalopolis, apparently at one with the corporate machine, but there is room to wonder: could he actually be working for the resistance?

I did not like it. Way to Low-Tech. I have nothing against Low Tech, but this was disconcerting. I did not like it.
To say, as another reviewer did, that this film is a "heavy-handed attack on consumerism" is a vast understatement. I think if you have little to no concept of economics or business, it might be easier to suspend disbelief at the exchange-based...
