Daniel Day-Lewis has the ability to grab your attention, not because he has star quality but because of his abilities as an actor and here in this film there is no exception and the greatest part of the film aside from the witty script writing and action scene is where he is sitting down reflecting on his life with the flag drapped over his shoulder.

I actually wasn't too thrilled with the movie, but daniel day lewis's performance is awesome. He steals every scene. This movie probably should've been called bill the butcher!

Epic tale of New York in the mid-1800s
Gritty, compelling tale of the Five Points neighborhood, in the midst of the Civil War, Tammany Hall, and heavy Irish immigration. A remarkably compelling story, superbly told.

Martin Scorsese proves yet again how outstanding his work is on so many levels. The artistic setting and characters are fascinating, especially Bill, played by Daniel Day-Lewis. Very good dynamics between the characters. No less than that, the story...
